EU Got 164 RAPEX Notices in February

DG Justice processed 164 RAPEX reports in February. That brings its year-to-date tally to 302, which is about 13% lower than the tally at this point last year: 348 (see chart below). Highlights of top numbers in February included:

  • Reporters (22 countries): Germany (32), Spain (16), France (13), Hungary (12), and Greece/U.K. (11 each).
  •  

  • Product Sources (24 nations plus unknown): China (78), unknown (16), U.S. (11), France/Germany/Japan (8 each).
  •  

  • Products (21 categories): Toys (40); motor vehicles (33); clothing, textiles and fashion items (27); lighting equipment (12); childcare articles/electrical appliances (8 each).
  •  

  • Risks (13 types): Injuries (60), chemical (42), choking (28), electric shock (21), strangulation (13), fire (10).
  •  

  • Brands/Models: Both known (116), just brand (21), just model (26), neither (1).
  •  

  • Remedies: Compulsory (73), voluntary (90), combination of compulsory and voluntary (1). The top nations for compulsory were Spain (14), Hungary (12), Slovakia (8), and Finland/Greece/Portugal (6 each). The top nations for voluntary were Germany (27), France (13), U.K. (8), and Poland (7). Luxembourg had the combo.
  •  

  • Risk Levels: Serious (13), other (15), information (10).
