ECHA to Assess Supply Chain Communication

The quality of safety data sheets under REACH mandates will be the target of an inspection effort announced January 10 by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). It said the first reviews are set to begin now and will culminate in a report set to be available in about two years (Q4 2018).

Although the "REF-5" effort will highlight worker safety, it will review whether responsible parties are ensuring the proper handling of chemicals all along the supply chain.

ECHA states (bit.ly/2iMd6zg), "The project will also map how effectively extended safety data sheets are passed on and communicated all the way through the supply chain, i.e. from manufacturers of chemicals to the users."
