ATSDR Wants Input on Continuing Crumb Rubber Research

The Agency for Toxic Substance and Disease Registry (ATSDR) seeks input by February 25 on continuing its exposure survey activity on crumb rubber infill. The request reflects the regular review of information collection projects under the Paperwork Reduction Act, but discontinuation would affect work by other federal agencies, including CPSC, as well as at the state level.

Since mid-2017 (PSL, 6/19/17), ATSDR has focused on the exposure potential of artificial turf, both for users like athletes and bystanders like parents. The multi-agency project began in early 2016 (PSL, 2/22/18), and ATSDR later said work would continue through 2019 (PSL, 2/27/17). See the December 26 Federal Register (bit.ly/2CNu24D).
