Washington State Highlights Looming Reporting Deadline

The Washington State Department of Ecology highlighted the January 31 deadline for reporting products under the state's Children's Safe Products Act. Covers are products sold in the state since September 2017. The agency added that it expects submitted information will be public on its database by the end of February.

Subject chemicals are on the state's list of "chemicals of high concern to children" (bit.ly/2Svq4D3). Advice on the reporting process is in a guidance document (bit.ly/2CNLS7Q).

The underlying law passed in 2008 (PSL, 4/7/08) and the phase-in of duties began with larger companies. In 2017, the state added more chemicals (PSL, 10/9/17), and it updated the reporting guidance nearly a year ago (PSL, 3/12/18).
