ECHA Reorganization Has Nine Units

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) January 10 explained its reorganized structure that became effective at the beginning of the year. There are nine units:

  • Management board handling finances and administration.
  • Executive director responsible for day-to-day operations.
  • Risk assessment committee to evaluate chemical risks.
  • Socio-economic panel to assess risks to populations.
  • Enforcement forum to coordinate surveillance.
  • Biocide committee to oversee such products.
  • Secretariat to support the committees and forums.
  • Appeals board to handle pleas against ECHA actions.

The new structure (bit.ly/2APQ7hu) stems from provisions in ECHA's 2019-2023 strategic plan (PSL, 12/24/18).
