Respond Now to Notices of Unauthorized Disclosures, CPSC Urges Companies

Companies need to confirm to CPSC immediately that they received letters about unauthorized release of their information. Once that occurs, the agency will give each company more details about its particular disclosure.

The agency gave this statement to PSL April 15 (our emphasis):

"Concerning the CPSC unauthorized release of company information, the agency considers this issue a top priority and has an action plan underway.
"Companies which received CPSC notification letters are urged to confirm their receipt at manufacturerreply@cpsc.gov. Starting today, CPSC, upon company confirmation, will provide each company with more details about the disclosure of its information.
"It is important, therefore, to confirm receipt of the CPSC notification letter as soon as possible."

Background: CPSC April 11 sent letters to an unknown number of companies telling them that their information had been released outside of 6(b) protocols. PSL is working on getting answers for a more detailed story on what happened, how, and what CPSC is doing.
