UK Eyes Consumer Construction Products

Reply by May 20 to a UK inquiry on the safety of construction products, including possibly moving some meant for consumers away from the General Product Safety Regulation. Instead, such products would need to comply with a to-be-introduced "general safety requirement."

The request (bit.ly/4sprwHE) from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government broadly targets the sufficiency of regulations and enforcement.

Hower it also calls for input on specific topics like mandatory risk assessment, provision of clear/accurate product information, labeling and traceability, maintenance of safety during storage/transportation, compliance verification duties for entities like importers and retailers, duties for investigating complaints/incidents, and more.
