CPSC Reports on Voluntary Standards Work during FY2015

CPSC staff March 9 gave updates on 82 voluntary standards areas where its staff worked during fiscal 2015. This included completion of 30 new or updated standards in 18 product areas. The four most-recently added issues getting attention are bicycles, tents, portable pools, and front-loading washing machines. Items typically join or drop off these reports as development activity and CPSC interest/ability change.

The agency had fallen behind on its standards activity reports, but has issued three in recent months, and this one represents it getting back on schedule. Due to the lag, PSL has not been including charts of the activity deeming it outdated, but this issue includes one below.

Bolded items are those added since the last chart, run in mid-2014, so might not reflect FY2015 additions. Also, Patty Edwards is the contact for numerous projects. She recently became CPSC's Voluntary Standards coordinator, but those projects still are transitioning from her.

The report is at 1.usa.gov/1pqzMrd.

Removed from previous reports were air cleaners, amusement rides, building materials, cellulosic insulation, cigarette lighters clothing textiles, firearm locking devices, firearm security containers, infant bedding (see crib bumpers), inflatable mattresses ladders, microwave ovens, soccer goals, trampoline courts, treestands.
