Canada Fines Orange TKO C$75K over RecallHealth Canada said it assessed C$75,000 against Orange TKO Industries for alleged serious violations of the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act (CCPSA). The fines stem from an order last year (PSL, 9/21/15) that the company recall its Orange TKO Super Concentrated All Purpose Cleaner for labeling, safety-closure, and ingredient concerns.
Following that, alleged the agency, the company missed two deadlines (September 16 and 20) for three demands: a list of products sold under the product name, a list of those to whom it sold the product, and a recall notice. There were five failures as the fines were $15,000 per violation, but Health Canada did not specify which occurred when.
The fines come under the agency's monetary penalties guidelines, created in 2013 (PSL, 6/10/13), which involves a grid for violation gravity and type of organization. Nonprofit and non-commercial violators pay less. This situation involved gravity factor 2; learn more at bit.ly/1MaZSZM. |
