CPSC & Other U.S. BriefsPool Drains: Commissioners are slated to vote by March 22 on a CPSC staff recommendation to deny a petition (PSL, 8/3/15) to declare vacuum diffusion technology an anti-entrapment device under the VGB pool law. Staff evaluation ( 1.usa.gov/256jNPY) deemed it to insufficiently mitigate against body entrapment, mechanical entrapment, and evisceration but might aid against hair and limb entrapment.

Bicycles: There were 726 U.S. traffic deaths in 2014, a slight decline from 749 a year before, according to data made available in March by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
