The International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization (ICPHSO) and ASTM October 13 jointly will sponsor a workshop on information and education campaigns.
According to information from ICPHSO, focus will include the effectiveness of such programs in addressing product safety risks, whether alone or accompanying design changes. Grabbing attention and motivating action also will be topics participants will discuss. Panelists will be from a range of product safety stakeholders.
Also helping in the day-long event – in Washington, D.C. – are the law firm Covington and Burling, which is allowing use of its 10th St. NW facilities, and The American Cleaning Institute, which is handling registration. Send such requests to meetings@cleaninginstitute.org. More information will be posted on ICPHSO's and ASTM's websites.
The event stems from work in ASTM F15.71 on a laundry packet standard created last year following child poisoning incidents. The law firm sponsored a similar event earlier this year coinciding with the ICPHSO annual meeting in Washington. The ASTM subcommittee has two working groups that are looking at how to handle data, especially measuring the success of the standard (PSL, 7/25/16).
