CPSC FY2015 Annual Report Tallies Activities

CPSC's FY2015 Annual Report, made available September 15, gives an overview of its actions during the year that began in October 2014. Different from the Annual Performance Report (PSL, 2/15/16), it neither assesses goals nor makes conclusions or recommendations.

Rather, it simply catalogs activities ranging from recalls to meetings. Indeed, more than half of it (166 of 282 pages) is a list of Letters of Advice, which are the largely under-the-radar notices to importers that the agency issues if it deems their products to be out of compliance. Most of them simply involve stopped distribution and production corrections that fell outside the recall process.

The agency divides the report's cataloging into five broad activity areas: hazard identification and monitoring, voluntary standards and mandatory rule development, compliance and enforcement actions, public outreach, and work with other government entities. Get it at bit.ly/2d3P01U.
