Members of an ANSI task group September 22 looked at details of Z21.1 and Z21.20 standards as they apply to electronic controls on gas ranges. This included interaction with related UL and CSA standards that derive numbers from IEC 60730.
The group decided to put aside for now a question of certifying electronic thermostat controls, especially as there were questions whether a proposal involved only optional activity. Meanwhile, they decided against including a clarification table that would have addressed electrical output classifications.
The concern was that the explanatory information could distract from or be confused with requirements. Also among numerous other issues discussed was an item that addressed numbers for endurance test cycles. Depending on the type of component, those would be 6,000 or 100,000.
