The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) September 21 said it is planning a "major national inspection program" for cribs. This came in its report on activities for April to June (see related story in this issue).
It will run during the 2016-2017 financial year, which began July 1. Targeted will be both online sellers and traditional brick-and-mortar. Cribs (or "cots") have played a high role in ACCC's actions with online sellers already.
The agency will work with state and local level regulations, as well as independent test labs, to collect and assess products. Outcomes could include industry education, recalls, or "enforcement action where appropriate."
