Pools: CPSC January 2 promoted that it has $1.1 million available for Pool Safely programs. Applications for the two-year grants are due April 2 and will be awarded in June. Targets are general safety and drain entrapments. See bit.ly/2Ar3tOs.
Christmas Trees: The U.S. Fire Administration is urging consumers to discard trees, especially if allowed to become dry. It is pointing to information (bit.ly/2lX1QTZ) that one out of four tree fires are linked to electricity and that tree fires spread very rapidly, especially if they involve dry ones. NFPA recently reported (PSL, 11/27/17) there are some 200 tree fires per year.
