CBP Reports on E-Commerce and IP Protection

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) March 6 issued its e-commerce strategy. The document (bit.ly/2Gx0aKd) addresses four prongs:

  • Enhancing its authority and interagency cooperation,
  • Tweaking its operations to adapt to changes in supply chains,
  • Giving aid and incentives to the private sector,
  • Working within international trade standards.

Meanwhile, CBP said (bit.ly/2GwXk80) that its intellectual property enforcement reached record levels in FY2017. There were over 30,000 seizures worth $1.2 billion. There were 457 arrests, 288 indictments, and 242 convictions.
