Tipovers Averaged about 25,500 in 2017-2019 but Fell Sharply from 2010There was an estimated annual average for 2017-2019 of 25,500 emergency room visits involving tipover incidents, according to data made available by CPSC January 27. This compares to a rough annual average above 41,500 for 2010-2012. CPSC wrote (bit.ly/3r0wJWR): "For 2010 through 2019, there is a statistically significant linear decline in television-only, in television-related (television-Only; and television and furniture), and in overall tip-over ED-treated tip-over injuries including all ages. The decline…in large part, is due to the decline in tip overs involving televisions during those years. No linear trend was detected for the entire period 2010 through 2019, for only-furniture." These observations referred to 2010-2019 drops of 45,000 to 22,400 for all incidents, of 20,000 to 3,900 for all TV-related events, and of 23,300 to 17,700 for furniture only.
