Canada Got 540 Product Reports in Q4-2020

Health Canada received 540 product reports in the fourth quarter of calendar 2020, according to its data made available February. Industry sent 53%, and consumers sent 47%. About 34% (184) included deaths or injuries with the top injury types being irritations (52), cuts (34), and burns (32).

 

Cosmetics had the most reports at 39, followed by electric ranges/ovens (24), telephones or accessories (18), laundry soaps/detergents (17), and chairs (14).

 

Percentages by product categories were housewares (26%), appliances (22%), children's products (12%), home/automobile maintenance (11%), electronics (10%), grooming products/accessories (9%), outdoor living (5%), sports/recreation/hobby (3%), and clothing/textiles/accessories (2%).
