Youth ATVs: A June 2 CPSC press release said EGL Motor is working on a remedy for 1,300 ACE D110 units sold November 2019 to February 2021. They exceed allowable speeds for ATVs intended for children 6 years and older. Stop use is the company's temporary recommendation.

ATVs: Avoiding on-road use is among CPSC's June 2 recommendations (bit.ly/3yXHzSd). Others involved youth riding proper models, wearing helmets, avoiding extra passengers, getting training, and no alcohol.

Pools: CPSC May 28 solicited (bit.ly/3g7Hp27) applications for grants under the Pool Safely program. $2 million is available.

Testing/Labeling: Commissioners voted 4-0 to issue a Federal Register notice on availability of a staff recommendation against new burden relief updates to 16 CFR 1107 and 1109 following a review under the Regulatory Flexibility Act (PSL, 5/31/21). Download the vote sheet via bit.ly/3g2bQ9U.

SaferProducts.gov: CPSC's reporting website is a "sorely undermarketed and underutilized resource," according to a review (bit.ly/2TvZlf6) by Kids in Danger and dated May. The organization downloaded more than 44,000 reports made March 11, 2011, to December 1, 2020. It called for better promotion as well as an annual review of injury patterns shown by reports, among other suggestions.

Magnets: The UK National Health Service May 29 called for a ban of small, high-powered sets in reaction to the TikTok trend of youth simulating facial piercings. It also pointed to its recent alert (bit.ly/2S1arsm) due to 65 children being hospitalized in the past three years for "urgent surgery" after ingestions.
